FAQ

Have you ever wished you had someone to talk to when you had a question on the crop and trait/s that you are breeding? Well, you've come to the right place. The Plant Breeder's Network is an online platform where you can connect and collaborate with other plant breeders within (for specific traits) or outside of your crop (if you are looking to use a novel technology). This platform can be used to build your profile, create posts, share research articles and find educational or employment opportunities in plantt breeding. You can create groups for specific crops, traits, and/or locations. This platform can also be used to share grant opportunities and quickly build teams to apply for collaborative research grants. Because the platform allows direct messaging among team members, it helps to develop close collaborations beyond institutional or country borders.

To improve crops, Plant Breeders need to work closely with scieentists from other desciplines including but not limited to pathologists, entomologists, physiologists, agronomists, socioeconomists tto name a few. This is why we are extending the Plant Breeder's network to scientists from other disciplines. As such, all plant breeders who have signed up to this platform using their institiional email address, are encourageed to invite their collaborators, students and partners to join the network.

Why waste time to find partners to submit an applications for a competitive grant? If you find a grant opportunity that looks interesting, check the box "I want ro apply". This allows others to know you are interested in applying for a grant. If you are interested in this opportunity and would like to create a group, you can click on "Let's meet" and invite others to join the group. Now you have a team to work with!

The world needs plant breeders more than ever before to develop crops that are resistant to biotic and abiotic stresses. Feeding the world with less resoures is not an easy task without using new cutting edge technological advances. It is not easy to keep track of the tools and technologies that are evolving and how they help improve the eeffociency of plant breeding. With your input, our goal is to make this platform become a go-to one-stop-shop for plant breeders.
